The polycrystalline silicon project launched by Tianwei (Sichuan) Silicon Co., Ltd. with a total investment of 2.7 billion yuan witnessed a successful trail production in Xinjin. The first batch of qualified products came out on Aug 23, 3 months ahead of the original schedule. The project, which has attracted wide concern, is a major industrialization project in Chengdu as well as in Sichuan Province, with an annual production capacity of 3000 tons polycrystalline silicon. The successful trial production is sufficiently significant for developing Chengdu into a national industrial base for new energy.
Since the company started the project last May, Chengdu municipality and Xinjin county have organized 15 coordination conferences for the company in order to improve the supporting conditions and guarantee the barrier-free implementation of the project. And construction of such infrastructures as special power lines, natural gas distributing stations and pipelines, flood drainage and pumping stations was carried out at an extraordinary speed. All the above proved to effectively secure a favorable environment for the successful trial production ahead of time. The company is ready to speed up the final constructions and will strive to realize full production in 2010.
