On June 29, the American Chamber of Commerce in Southwest China held a Charitable Fundraising Benefit in support of the Sichuan earthquake relief and rebuilding effort.
On the event day, AmCham raised over RMB100, 000 yuan by way of ticket sales, donation and auction in support of the quake relief and reconstruction. This was a successful prelude of a large-scale benefit held by AmCham aimed to raise RMB1 ml through a series of fundraising events by the end of 2008.
