The province pledges to take three years to resume the conditions of life and production of the quake-hit people to or above the level before the quake and rebuild a pleasant, ecological and harmonious new home for them, said sources from a symposium attended by officials from the provincial government and representatives from the U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S.-based enterprises and NGOs.
The province has sent more than 800 experts to make on-the-spot investigation to the disaster area on the basic works of geological analysis and reconstruction site selection, etc., on the basis of which the government has initiated reconstruction plan of“1+9”that is the master plan for post-disaster reconstruction and the special plans of the urban system, rural construction, urban and rural housing construction, infrastructure construction, public facilities construction, productivity layout and industrial adjustment, market service system, disaster prevention and ecological restoration, land utilization, etc.. The plans are scheduled to be completed before July 10 and the total investment for reconstruction of the province will exceed RMB1 trillion.(Chengdu Weekly news)
