The Ministry of Railways and the Chengdu Municipal Government signed an agreement on May 28 to speed up railway construction in Chengdu. According to the agreement, both sides will cooperate to further speed up construction projects including railway construction from Chengdu to Dujiangyan city, the new railway station and the freight train lines running in the outskirts. It is the first major project signed for post-disaster reconstruction.
The Chengdu-Dujiangyan railway runs from the west loop railway hub in Chengdu, via Pixian County to Dujiangyan City. In accordance with inter-city and urban public transport regulations, passengers can transfer from the railway line to Metro Line 2 in Chengdu.
With a floor area of 100,000 square meters of the station building, the new railway station is located at Shahebao, Chenghua District, and is responsible for inter-city passenger transport of Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan and Chengdu-Chongqing and the departure and terminus works of the bullet trains of Dazhou-Chengdu, Chengdu-Kunming. The freight train lines, covering a total length of 58.8 kilometers, runs from the North Chengdu Marshalling Station to Hualongmen Station on Chengdu-Kunming railway line
