Reporters learned from the 2011 working conference of Sichuan Banking Regulatory Commission held on Jan. 25th and 26th in Chengdu that up till the end of 2010, the number of Sichuan banking institutions ranks first in midwest China. Vice-governor Huang Xiaoxiang attended the conference.
During the “eleventh five-year” period, Sichuan brought in 9 Chinese banks and 3 foreign-invested banks. Now Sichuan has 90 banking institutions, which is the most in midwest China, 12566 bank outlets, employing 148,000 people. A complete banking service system has taken initial shape. There are 27 new-type rural financial institutions, covering 16 cities (autonomous prefectures) and 30 counties (county-level cities), loaning 5.3-billion yuan, over 90% of which is put in solving issues of agriculture, farmer and rural area.
In 2011, Sichuan Banking Regulatory Commission will strongly support a new wave of western development, will strengthen credit aid for new-type industrialization, new-tye urbanization, agricultural modernization and other fields, will focus on the credit aid for the development of strategic new industries, “7+3” industries, competitive industries and the receive of industrial transfer. The Commission will guide banking institutions to aid regions inhabited by ethnic groups, earthquake stricken areas, old revolutionary base areas, poverty-stricken areas, ecologically vulnerable areas and experimental areas of balancing urban and rural development to boost a rapid growth of these areas. The Commission will also guide banking institutions to give larger support to safeguard and improve the people’s livelihood and so on.
