On Jan.17th, Ma Jia’ning, vice-president of the U.S. General Electric Company (GE) in China, and his team held a news briefing in Chengdu, saying GE’s first global innovation centre will be set up in Chengdu and the preparation will be started in no time.
It is learned that GE plans to finish all preparation within the year and will recruit 380 application engineers to do researches in medical treatment, petroleum and gas, automation and other fields. The innovation centre will have an interactive exhibition centre of GE’s high and new technology, world’s first-class labs and humanized work environment that can inspire creativity. Ma Jia’ning said, “ picking Chengdu as GE’s first innovation centre is based on the advantages of both sides for the purpose of mutual benefit.” According to the plan, GE will regard Chengdu as its strategic base of developing business in western China. Both sides will enhance cooperation in transport, medical care, new energy, finance and the development of medium and small-sized enterprises. Smart grid, water treatment, environment protection and other fields will be involved as well.
