A total of 300,000 pieces of cultural relics have been removed to the new locale situated beside the Huanhuaxi Park. The decorating plan of the exhibition halls, jointly designed by Sichuan Provincial Museum and Nanjing Municipal Museum, has been hammered out. The decorating project was rolled out recently. To people’s surprise, the new provincial museum will open 10 exhibition halls to people. The first batch of 6,000 pieces of cultural relics will be displayed in a brand new way so that visitors will enjoy an unprecedented experience in the museum.
The new museum, with an area of about 53,000 square meters, 4 times of the old one and with the amount of investment of RMB300 milion, will become a symbolic building of the city. Ten exhibition halls are divided as different themes. Local cultural relics, such as Shu Brocade, Shu Embroidery, Shadow Play puppets, will be displayed at different halls. Visitors also have chance to see bronze wares in Warring State Period (475-211 B.C), ancient coins, carved stone works, stone relief in Han Dynast (202 B.C-220 A.D), etc..
The exhibits will be updated periodically. A total of 300,000 pieces of cultural relics will be displayed by turns. In addition, about 500 pieces of paintings of Zhang Daqian, the traditional Chinese painting master, will be displayed in a special theme hall. It is said Sichuan Provincial Museum collects the most works of Zhang Daqian among the museums around the country.
The museum is installed with hi-tech equipments so that visitors can have a better understand of every exhibit and have an enjoyable visiting experience by using multimedia tools, touchable screen, interactive sand table and electronic guide. Foreign visitors from different country even have access to multi-language guide service offered by the museum.
