Wei Hong

  Biography

  Wei Hong:  Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, Vice Governor of Sichuan Province.

  Wei Hong was born in Yi’nan, Shandong Province in May, 1954. He began his career in November, 1970 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in June, 1973. Mr. Wei holds a master’s degree of economics from Sichuan Provincial Party School.

  He had worked successively as Platoon commander, deputy political instructor, and secretary of the Politics Department of Changsha Railway Corps College.

  Wei’s career and public service are as follows:

  1983, official in Yongchuan County Government and the Personnel Bureau of Yongchuan County, Sichuan Province

  1986, director’s secretary, deputy division-chief, deputy secretary-general of the Organization Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee

  1995.3, secretary-general of the Organization Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee

  1997.1, deputy director of the Organization Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee

  2000.8, secretary of the CPC Ya’an Regional Committee

  2000.12, secretary of the CPC Ya’an Municipal Committee

  2002.8, deputy director of the Organization Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee

  2002.9, director of the Organization Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee

  2002.12, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, director of the Organization Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee

  2007.5, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, executive vice governor of Sichuan Province (concurrently as president of Sichuan School of Administration since September, 2007)

  He graduated from the Politics Department of Changsha Railway Corps College and did his postgraduate study in the Finance Research Institute of the Ministry of Finance.

  Mr. Wei is a deputy to the 16th and 17th CPC National Congress, and a deputy to the 10th and 11th Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress.

  Responsibilities

  Mr. Wei is responsible for the routine work of the Provincial Government, and the work of supervision, auditing, finance and taxation, personnel, land and resources, and foreign affairs. He is also responsible for the general coordination of the key constructions, opening-up policies, and private economic developments.

  Mr. Wei is in charge of the departments of: the General Office of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, Sichuan Provincial Department of Supervision, Sichuan Provincial Department of Finance, Sichuan Provincial Department of Personnel, Sichuan Provincial Department of Land and Resources, Sichuan Provincial Department of Audit, the Provincial Office of Foreign Affairs, Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Local Taxation, Sichuan Provincial Government Offices Administration, the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mine Resources, the Provincial Bureau of Metallurgy and Geological Prospecting, the Legislative Affairs Office of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, the Provincial Office of Organizational Formation Commission, Sichuan Provincial Records Office, the Research Office of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, the Administrative Service Center of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, Sichuan School of Administration.

  Mr. Wei serves as the liaison with Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress, Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) of Sichuan Province, Sichuan State Taxation Bureau, and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries of Sichuan Province.
