Major duties:
1.Consisting with national minority policies and regulations, assist provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government on minority affairs.
2.To research on the major issues regarding minority theory, minority policies and minority affairs; formulate strategy, polices and plan for the development of minority regions; publicize and implement policies and regulations regarding minority affairs.
3.To supervise and improve regional autonomy policy for minority region; protect minority’s rights; organize and guide ceremony for each 10-year anniversary in minority regions.
4.To research and formulate principles and approaches for managing minority affairs in order to improve equality, unity and cooperation among minorities, therefore to sustain social stability and national unity; award people that contribute to national unity and improvement.
5.To analyze economic operation in minority regions, assist in mapping out development and reform plan for minority regions; identify key problems that affect minority region economy and put forward special policies and solutions; support and encourage science and technology development, technical and trade cooperation, and producing ethnic commodities in minority region; suggest on how to distribute special funds for minority development; assist in the projects for supporting the poverty-relief program in minority region.
6.Under the guidance of national polices and regulations, study special topics in minority region regarding education, culture, science and technology, public health, sports, media, publishing etc. and assist in corresponding issues.
7.To supervise translation, publishing of minority literatures; assist in collecting, compiling and publishing of ancient minority books.
8.Assist with training, educating and use of minority officials for minority autonomy government and research on minority civil servants’ organization.
9.Coordinate the international exchanges and cooperation in the minority region and assist in the publicity of minority situation; help with overseas minority compatriots for the visit of relatives, travel or permanent residence in China; Organize and receive minority people for study, visit and research etc.
10.Organizing research on minority human rights, women and children’s living condition and scattered settlements live in remote minority area.
11.To give guidance to the related departments at provincial and local level regarding minority affairs; enhance contact with minority autonomy region.
12.To fulfill other tasks that assigned by the Provincial Party’s Committee and Provincial Government.
